Luann de Lesseps, cast member of Bravotv,s ”The Real Housewives of New York City” is a real life countess. What is a Countess? Well from what we discovered, a Countess is a wife or widow of an earl or count, a member of the British peerage ranking below a marquess and above a viscount. Luann de Lesseps former model and tv personality, inherited her title as Countess when she married French aristocrat Count Alexandre de Lesseps,an entrepreneur, an investment banker, pioneer of micro financing in developing countries, President of Coral Capital Limited of London and Pandaw Investment Holdings in Hong Kong, co-founder and president of Blue Orchard Finance S.A. of Geneva, and a descendant of Ferdinand de Lesseps of the Suez Canal dynasty. The “de Lesseps” were the ones who presented the Statue of Liberty in 1884 to New York City as a pledge of friendship between France and the United States.
With her constant reminding us that she is a Countess and has achieved a level of personal class, Luann de Lesseps explains to us how to live with elegance and flair in her soon to be released book, “Class with the Countess”, and Luann is also recognized as a manners and etiquette expert. We know that having class is an example of outstanding quality or prestige, and we are really leaning forward to see Luann exercise these qualities on ”The Real Housewives of New York City” reality show. What is the constantly aware of the abundance in her life Countess Luann de Lesseps doing on a reality show, since she uses her title to help with various charities, as she has explained, she is a socialite very much in demand, a busy mom of two, travels extensively around the world, teaches etiquette on morning television shows, and has a local cable show on WVVH-TV in the Hamptons called the “The Countess Report“ ?
Luann’s attitude and behavior on ”The Real Housewives of New York City” reality show is a little confusing, she does not come across as being poised or sophisticated in her behavior toward others. It is more arrogance than class. Her drive is to teach us how to hold a proper conversation, be gracious and charming and feel comfortable anywhere and place we go. For some jealous reason Luann did not feel comfortable at Bethenny’s magazine cover photo feature party. There seems to be this constant ”I know it better than you do” attitude. For what we have seen of her in her family surroundings, her children did not seem to know the ”de Lesseps” history of presenting the Statue of Liberty to New York City or even cared as their father explained it to them on season 1 reality show.
Luann constantly talks about her status as a countess, is a fast talker and cuts others off in mid conversation, makes excuses for her husband who is never around to attend anything that she or her children is interested in, her children don’t pay much attention to Count Alexandre when he is around, Rosie the maid is the bouncing ball used to make Luann look and feel good in her position as a Countess at home, her son complained that Luann is never at home in the evenings and daughter doesn’t seem to have much verbal respect for Luann or her dad.
The reality of the matter is that Luann de Lesseps has had a painful experience in lacking the necessary etiquette needed to function within a society of well-bred french aristocrats who can be very rude when threatened with the presence of an outsider. Coming from an Algonquin father ( an aboriginal/indigenous indian people of North America speaking Alonquin ) and a french mother, Luann actions and body language toward others tries to justify that: “I do fit in, I am somebody, I am a Countess, like it or not, I am better than you.” And lets not forget the Countess has named herself the star of “The Real Housewives of New York City”. The reality of the matter is that the Countess is trying very hard to measure up to her own created ideas of how a Countess should behave. One of Countess Luann de Lesseps daily blogging tips is: “Remember the moment you think you’re ripe is when you begin to rot.”

I’m often searching for new informations in the world wide web about this issue. Thx!!
Perhaps Luann should begin to take as much pride in her OWN heritage as she does her ‘inherited by marriage’ heritage.
If she’s going to be proud of anything regarding ancestors, there’s a wealth of information available to her regarding her own background…that she seems to be completely ignorant of.
She doesn’t even realize that she’s a Native American. AMERICAN INDIAN?????
And what Native American wears a faux Pocahontas costume for Halloween?
Ummmm, Luann, I think that constitutes a complete lack of taste. Not to mention completely disrespectful to your ancestors.
It just isn’t done.
Ms. de Lesseps (skank). Sorry LuAnn, it’s a rather black and white issue.
I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment about how the Countess is constantly trying to live up to her own expectations about what a Countess should be. That is the driving force behind why she is constantly reminding everyone that she is a Countess. She has a construct in her head of how a Countess should live and be regarded, and she is trying to force everyone around her to fall into her way of thinking/behaving.
Poor LuAnn needs to realize that the era of the Count/Countess is well over, and as sad as it may be to someone of her stature, we are all equal now, whether we inherit the social skeleton of a nobility title or not. Being a Count/Countess doesn’t mean squat now. This is the 21st century, not some 19th century fairy tale.
I would like to think the ex-Mrs. de Lesseps will learn from her mistakes and become a better person in the future, but given her personality, I highly doubt it.
