Beyonce performed at the BET Awards 2009, which was changed around to pay tribute to Michael Jackson’s sudden demise. Beyonce was scheduled to sing “Ego” and “Broken Hearted-Girl”, but was asked to sing “Ava Maria” in Michael Jackson’s honor. Now Ava Maria is a very comforting song used mainly for mourning’s. What we did not expect was for Beyonce to come on stage looking like she just got out of bed in her lingerie. This was totally inappropriate.
This show was a tribute to Michael Jackson, and why is it that someone cannot explain to Beyonce that her half naked performances are not always appropriate in every setting. Why is this humble, sheltered, inexperienced in life’s issues, young woman allowed to continue to make a fool of herself, without some adult explaining the do’s and don’ts of a proper dress code.
Instead of being real with Beyonce, her father Matthew Knowles prefers to cut names from a performance list and go around pulling videos off the internet, when he feels that Beyonce messed up, a mother Tina Knowles, whom has sewn every costume with the intention to expose her daughter’s assets and reveal her couture expertise. Then there’s the father figure husband Jay-Z who decides they will not perform if Chris Brown takes the stage.
Beyonce passed up an opportunity to perform in Malaysia, because of her lack of respect for their Islamic cultural values. Their customs and culture did not allow women to bare their skin in public, so Beyonce turned her back on them. What is so attractive about constantly showing legs and wearing high-cut close to crutch outfits even when it is totally uncalled for.
There’s obviously a subconscious marital issue going on with Beyonce. She never got to show her wedding pictures, she never had an every girl’s dream come true princess wedding with all her close friends and associates, she hung on for 6 years, married a man 12 years older, (obviously set in his ways), which she admits was her first relationship, constantly writes and sings about her personal feelings, and definitely got a reality wake up call to what married life is really all about within the hip hop rapper world.
Now Beyonce shows up at the BET Awards 2009 wearing a fairy wedding dress getup and a veil on her head, sporting a very blank facial expression, as if the blissful spark has gone out of her life. And who performed on stage? Was it Beyonce the humble spirit, or “Sasha Fierce” the wanton “wanna be” whom has not yet figured out her true identity, or connected with who she really is and should be. It really does not leave much to anyone’s imagination, about Beyonce’s transparency and the inner emotional struggles of this innocent humble woman.
